TODAY Compliant LLC

Effective Date: September 28, 2026 · Last Updated: September 28, 2026

These Compliance Standards list the documents Contractors must provide, explain how TODAY Compliant reviews them, and define what a "Verified" status on the Platform means, and what it does not mean. They are part of our Terms of Service and Contractor Membership Agreement.

At a glance

  • Required: a trade license where the law requires one, general liability insurance of at least $300,000 per occurrence, TODAY Compliant LLC named as additional insured, and workers' compensation insurance or proof of exemption.
  • Additional insured is pass/fail. Without it, the insurance document is not accepted.
  • "Verified" describes documents, not people. It means a document met this checklist on the date shown.
  • We do not run background checks and do not guarantee any Contractor's work.
  • Hiring parties decide whether a Contractor's insurance is adequate for their project.

Contents

1. Who These Standards Apply To

1.1 These Standards apply to every Contractor that holds, or applies for, a membership on todaycompliant.com (the "Platform"), operated by TODAY Compliant LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("TODAY Compliant," "we," or "us").

1.2 Clients and visitors should read Sections 2, 3, and 9 to understand what a Verified status tells them.

2. What "Verified" Means

"Verified" means that a specific document submitted by a Contractor was reviewed by TODAY Compliant against the checklist in Section 7 of these Standards and met that checklist on the review date shown.

2.1 "Verified" always refers to documents and is always shown with a review date. A Contractor's profile shows "Verified" only while every required document in Section 4 is on file, has met the checklist, and has not expired.

2.2 "Verified Client" is a separate label. It means only that a Client has an active Client Pro Plan. It does not mean we have reviewed anything about the Client.

3. What "Verified" Does Not Mean

A Verified status is not:

  • a background check, criminal-record check, credit check, or identity check. TODAY Compliant does not run background checks of any kind;
  • a guarantee, endorsement, recommendation, rating, or certification of any Contractor, or of the quality, safety, legality, or timeliness of any work;
  • a determination that a Contractor is qualified or licensed for a particular project, or that its insurance is adequate for a particular project;
  • a guarantee that a document is genuine, or that a license or policy is still in force after the review date. Licenses and policies can be suspended, cancelled, or changed at any time; or
  • a statement about any person's character, conduct, or reliability.

4. Required Documents

DocumentWhat we needWhen required
Trade licenseA current license for each trade you list, issued by the state, county, or city that requires it where you work. If no license is required for your trade where you work, you confirm that in your profile.Where the law requires a license for your trade
General liability certificate of insuranceA current certificate of insurance (such as an ACORD 25) for commercial general liability coverage meeting Section 5 and showing the additional insured information in Section 6.Always
Additional insured endorsementA copy of the endorsement page from your general liability policy that adds TODAY Compliant LLC as an additional insured, as described in Section 6.Always
Workers' compensationA current workers' compensation certificate of insurance, or proof of exemption (Section 5.3).Always (certificate or exemption)

4.1 Documents must be current, complete, legible, unaltered, and in the name of your business as it appears on your profile. Upload renewals before the old documents expire.

4.2 Remove Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, and bank or card numbers before uploading.

5. Minimum Insurance

CoverageMinimum
Commercial general liability$300,000 each occurrence
Workers' compensationStatutory limits required by each state where you have employees, or proof of exemption

5.1 These are the minimums to be Verified on the Platform. They are not a recommendation. Many projects, property owners, and managers require higher limits.

5.2 The named insured on each policy must match your business name on the Platform, including any d/b/a you use.

5.3 Workers' compensation exemption. If you have no employees and the law does not require you to carry workers' compensation, upload either (a) a state-issued exemption certificate, where your state issues one, or (b) a signed statement on our form that you have no employees and are not required to carry workers' compensation in any state where you work. You must upload a workers' compensation certificate within 5 business days of hiring any employee.

6. Additional Insured Requirement

Pass or fail. Your general liability insurance is accepted only if every item in Section 6.2 is met. If any item is missing, the insurance is not accepted, your profile is not Verified, and your account stays pending or goes on Hold Status until it is fixed.

6.1 The exact name and address

Use this name and address, exactly, on your certificate and endorsement:

TODAY Compliant LLC
2227 IL-157
Edwardsville, IL 62025

Accepted

  • TODAY Compliant LLC
  • TODAY Compliant, LLC
  • (any capitalization, e.g., "Today Compliant LLC")

Not accepted

  • TODAYcompliant (no space)
  • TODAY Compliant (no "LLC")
  • TODAY Compliant Inc. / TODAYcompliant, Inc.
  • TODAY Freight Broker LLC
  • todaycompliant.com
  • Any misspelling

6.2 What we check: all six must be met

  • Certificate holder. The "Certificate Holder" box on the certificate of insurance shows TODAY Compliant LLC at the address in 6.1.
  • Additional insured marked. On the commercial general liability line of the certificate, the "ADDL INSD" (additional insured) column is marked "Y."
  • Description of operations. The "Description of Operations" box states, in substance: "TODAY Compliant LLC is included as an additional insured under the general liability policy."
  • Endorsement provided. You upload a copy of the additional insured endorsement from the same general liability policy. A certificate alone is not enough, because a certificate does not itself give coverage. Either of these is accepted:
    • a scheduled endorsement that names TODAY Compliant LLC; or
    • a blanket endorsement that covers any person or organization you have agreed in a written contract to add as an additional insured. Your Contractor Membership Agreement is that written contract.
  • Same policy. The policy number on the endorsement matches the general liability policy number on the certificate.
  • Current dates. The policy and endorsement are in effect on the review date, and the policy expiration date is shown.

6.3 How to get it

Send your insurance agent this request:

"Please add TODAY Compliant LLC, 2227 IL-157, Edwardsville, IL 62025, as an additional insured on my general liability policy, and send me (1) an updated certificate of insurance with TODAY Compliant LLC as certificate holder, 'Y' in the ADDL INSD column for general liability, and the additional insured wording in the Description of Operations, and (2) a copy of the additional insured endorsement."

Many policies already include a blanket additional insured endorsement at no extra cost. Your agent can tell you.

6.4 Keeping it in place

  • Each renewal must carry the additional insured coverage again, with a new certificate and endorsement uploaded before the old policy expires.
  • If your policy is cancelled, not renewed, reduced below Section 5, or the additional insured endorsement is removed, you must tell us within 5 business days. Your account goes on Hold Status until a compliant replacement is reviewed.
  • Changing insurance companies or agents requires a new certificate and endorsement.

6.5 What this requirement is, and is not

Naming TODAY Compliant LLC as an additional insured is a condition of membership on the Platform. It does not mean that TODAY Compliant directs, supervises, inspects, or controls any work, or takes on any responsibility for it. It does not replace any insurance a Client may require for its own project.

7. How We Review Documents

7.1 Each document is reviewed by a person against this checklist. We record the date of each review.

#CheckApplies to
1Document is legible, complete, and shows no sign of alterationAll
2Name on the document matches the business name (and any d/b/a) on the profileAll
3Document is in effect on the review date, and its expiration date is recordedAll
4License type matches a trade listed on the profile, and license status appears active in the issuing agency's public look-up, where one is availableTrade license
5Commercial general liability limit is at least $300,000 each occurrenceGeneral liability
6All six additional insured items in Section 6.2 are metGeneral liability and endorsement
7Workers' compensation certificate is current, or exemption proof meets Section 5.3Workers' compensation

7.2 We may contact the issuing agency, insurance company, or agent named on a document to confirm information, and we may ask you for more information or a clearer copy.

7.3 Result. A document that meets every applicable check is accepted and marked Verified with the review date. A document that does not is not accepted, and we tell you what is missing.

7.4 Our review is limited to the checks above. We do not review policy exclusions, deductibles, or coverage terms beyond what this checklist lists, and we do not decide whether any coverage fits a particular project.

8. Expiration, Reminders, and Hold Status

8.1 Reminders. As a courtesy, we email reminders about 60, 30, and 10 days before a document on file expires. Keeping documents current is your responsibility, whether or not you receive a reminder.

8.2 Hold Status. When a required document expires, is cancelled, or no longer meets these Standards, your account goes on Hold Status: your profile is hidden, your Verified status is removed, and you cannot use the Leadboard until a compliant replacement is reviewed. The Contractor Membership Agreement explains fees during Hold Status.

8.3 Returning. Hold Status ends when the replacement document is reviewed and accepted. The new review date is shown.

9. Insurance Adequacy Is the Hiring Party's Decision

For Clients: Our minimums are a floor for joining the Platform, not advice about your project. You see a Contractor's Verified status and review date, not the documents. Before work begins, ask the Contractor for current certificates of insurance and licenses, and decide for yourself whether the coverage and licensing are right for your project. If you need to be named as an additional insured on the Contractor's policy, ask the Contractor directly.

9.1 Whether a Contractor's insurance and licensing are adequate for any particular project is solely the hiring party's responsibility. TODAY Compliant does not determine the adequacy of any coverage.

9.2 TODAY Compliant being named as an additional insured protects TODAY Compliant. It does not give any Client coverage under the Contractor's policy.

10. Changes and Contact

10.1 We may update these Standards, including minimums and required documents. We will post the updated version with a new Last Updated date and email Contractors at least 30 days before a stricter requirement takes effect. Contractors will have until their next document renewal, or 30 days, whichever is later, to meet a stricter requirement, unless the law requires sooner.
